Castle Craig and Smarmore Castle are proud to be official partners of the International Conference on Addiction and Associated Disorders (iCAAD). Our partnership with iCAAD involves the hosting of the theoretical development stream of presentations and panels at the 3 day conference, which takes place from the 1st to the 3rd May in central London.
A broad range of speakers including some Castle Craig staff and consultants will be addressing the conference:
- Professor Jonathan Chick and Dr. Maria Kelly will be co-presenting on the topic of misprescribing of medications in addiction treatment.
- Professor Philip James shall be talking on the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment and its applications in treating addiction in conjunction with Dr Frank Lawliss, of Origins Recovery in the USA.
- Dr. Glynis Read will be talking about EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) on a panel which aims to provide insight on different tools to address trauma. The discussion will focus around different techniques, theories and concepts attributed to the different models.
- Christopher Burn will also be delivering a talk with recovery coach Dufflyn Lammers. The talk is titled ‘Self-discovery through creative writing – healing words’. Christopher recently retired as a specialist therapist at Castle Craig, but still runs creative writing workshops for our patients as a consultant.
Apart from the headline conference in London, Castle Craig and Smarmore have also sponsored similar 1 day events in Paris, Brussels and Rome, earlier this year.
Castle Craig will have a prominent stand at the event, and a number of our staff from London, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, France and Sweden will be attending – so please take the time to come and find us and connect, or re-connect!
