Involvement of family members in alcohol, drug & gambling addiction treatment and strong support networks of friends and colleagues is vital to successful recovery. The more the family know about the addiction and know how to offer the right support, the better the outcome for the patient.
Re-Building Damaged Relationships for Swifter, Stronger Recovery
Our family therapy programme helps patients and families to connect and share their feelings of shame, hurt and anger. It helps them to communicate again, and to rebuild their damaged relationships.
We aim to:
- Educate family about the disease of addiction, and help them to understand the behaviours of the addict.
- Guide the family to cope with the problem.
- Support and assist family members in rebuilding their lives.
Why & How We Involve Family & Friends
Alcoholism, drug addiction and other addictions have a damaging and traumatic effect on the family, friends and work colleagues. We involve the family all the way through treatment, often before admission. We provide therapy conducted by a specialist therapist for the patient and their family/spouse.
We invite family members to visit Castle Craig on Sundays when we hold a family program with educational lectures about alcohol & drugs, family therapy sessions and self-help meetings such as Al Anon and Families Anonymous.
