Scottish Government travel guidelines say that anyone is allowed to travel to Scotland for healthcare purposes, so regardless of the lockdown levels, Castle Craig will continue to take patients from all parts of the UK and abroad.

On arrival, we ensure you are tested for Covid-19 in our special detox and admissions unit for the first week of your detox and treatment, in line with our covid-security measures which have been approved by public health to keep our patients and staff safe.

For more information please call our Admissions team on our contact number for details.

We are the UK’s leading addiction treatment clinic and we admit patients from all over the UK. Our alcohol & drug rehab centre is located in Southern Scotland, not far from Edinburgh and Carlisle.

We are just a 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh International Airport & Edinburgh Waverly train station, and also easily accessible for patients from London and the South of England. As we are located close to the Border with England, we are especially convenient for patients from the North of England, Carlisle, Newcastle upon Tyne, York, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.

We are happy to arrange transport for patients from any of these areas.

There are 3 ways to gain access to treatment

Privately Funded Admission

We accept requests for treatment from people who wish to pay privately. A private admission can be arranged within 24 hours.  Call our admissions department and they will be happy to advise you on the different payment options.

Admission Through The NHS

Castle Craig is a contractor to the NHS and if you are from England you can apply for your treatment to be funded through the NHS. Usually social work departments or clinical commissioning groups fund treatment for our English NHS patients.

We advise you to speak to your GP or contact your local addiction services for information on the routes into residential rehab and funding. Our admissions team are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about our programme, the admissions process or funding.

Admission Through Private Health Insurance

Treatment at Castle Craig is covered by major private healthcare providers such as BUPA, CIGNA, Aetna, AXA PPP, JSIS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aviva, Coventry Health Care and others. Check that your insurance policy covers residential rehab and request a referral to Castle Craig from your GP.
