What Happens in Drug Rehab?

Whilst you're all striving to achieve the same goal (abstinence), everyone's path there is unique.

Each and everyone’s journey is going to look different

Whilst you’re all striving to achieve the same goal (abstinence), everyone’s path there is unique.

This is because your addiction to drugs, whether it be cocaine, heroin or cannabis is unique to you, and you have your unique reason why you turned to these drugs originally.

For Castle Craig, it’s not just about getting you sober and clean, it’s about inserting therapeutic tools to make you as an individual, strong enough to cope with whatever life throws at you.

What is drug treatment like at Castle Craig?

  • Detox typically lasts between 5-7 days
  • 4 weeks of daily one-to-one therapy sessions
  • 4 weeks of group therapy sessions
  • Access to complementary and experiential therapies
  • Wellness and holistic approaches to recovery
  • Relapse prevention education
  • Weekly NA meetings
  • Structured routine, good nutrition and fitness
  • Educational literature, talks and self-development sessions

Patients can expect to be submerged into recovery and whilst the road to recovery varies from person to person, but the stages of drug rehab generally involve detox (as needed), primary treatment, and continuing care.

After rehab, sobriety is maintained via group meetings, therapy and other recovery support.

The first steps:

  • Admission process
  • Drug addiction assessment
  • Mental health assessments

Book a cocaine, heroin, cannabis, prescription or sedative addiction assessment here. This will involve a 30-minute call with our admissions staff, which is completely free with no obligation for treatment.

Treatment models:

  • Foundation (5 weeks min): A solid base and starting point to stabilise your condition. This will involve detox and therapy as well as introducing you to Steps 1-5. Following this programme, we usually reassess patients to establish their progress and if we will need to recommend advanced programmes.
  • Advanced (further 5 weeks): At a cheaper price, the additional 5- week stay with us can focus further on the recovery journey and relapse prevention techniques. It’s here that we will be using advanced therapy to target and treat a dual diagnosis.
  • Outpatient drug rehab: For those who do not need a medically-managed detox and can manage a lower intensity of treatment. A full assessment is still needed to determine that this option is the right one for you.

Cost undoubtedly can affect your decision on which rehab you attend to receive treatment. But often what has not been realised is that the cost is often dictated by the quality of the facility.

What does a typical day in rehab look like?

Residential drug rehab typically entails a full schedule of therapy sessions and recovery-focused activities.
