Are you struggling with alcoholism, behavioural changes or drug addiction? You might need rehab. But for those residing in areas such as Gateshead or Woolsington in Newcastle, there are very few addiction facilities.
That’s why here at Castle Craig, we often see many patients visiting from the North of England to access essential and quality addiction care and services.
Not only is Castle Craig likely to be one of the closest treatment centres to Newcastle (NE1), but we are also one of the most established and recognised rehabs in the UK.
Getting better! The first step
Standing strong in the beautiful south-eastern Scottish Borders, Castle Craig near Edinburgh is an evidence-based residential rehab that has saved over ten thousand people over 30 years.
To receive treatment with us, we first organise a short and FREE addiction assessment, which helps you access hospital addiction services at a time that’s convenient for them.
It’s during the call that we will begin to explore the underlying causes of your addiction, and if you decide to continue with treatment at our clinic, this information will serve as the foundation for a psychiatrist to determine a diagnosis and prescribe suitable treatments.

“Life-changing” and “life-saving” inpatient treatments
We treat numerous addictions and all dual diagnosis disorders.
Everyone who attends Castle Craig has their own story and their own unique journey, whether they need drug or alcohol rehab. However, many also experience mental health problems like depression, anxiety and trauma.
Our prescribed treatments combine holistic and evidence-based therapies to provide you with new, healthy coping strategies and treat the co-occurring issues that might have fuelled your drinking or drug-using to begin with.
We have over 30 years of experience providing medically managed drug detoxes to help free people from the devastating cycle of drink and drug addiction.
Behavioural addictions rehab
Those experiencing behavioural addictions like gaming and gambling often experience a loss of control over their daily lives and habits. When you arrive at this point, your behaviours may also be impacting the lives of those around you, which means it might be time to get help and unlearn the unhealthy habits and behaviours you have formed.
